When I mention Mount Everest, should I add the ahead of it, like the Mount Everest or The Mount Everest?

Hello, You say or write, "Mount Everest". The article "the" is unnecessary here. I hope this answers your question. If you’d like to practice speaking. I’d be happy to help you develop a study plan. Feel free to view my teaching profile and class offerings and send me a message if you think I can help you. Regards.

We usually use “the” before Mountain Ranges. We don’t use “the” before a single mountain. So it’s Mount Everest. If you’d like to practice this topic, I’d be happy to help you. Feel free to book a lesson 🤗

I also agree that “the”is not needed here.

Hi. No, 'the' is not needed. We normally say 'he climbed Mount Everest' or 'Mount Everest is very high' or 'you can see Mount Everest from there'.

I agree with the other comments. But why is it that we can't say "the Mount Everest"? I think it is because there is no noun there for "the" to modify. When you say "the Atlantic Ocean", "the" goes with the noun "ocean". When you say "the Rocky Mountains", "the" goes with "mountains". But when you say "the Mount Everest", "the" could only modify "mount" and "Everest" would just be dangling there. I do believe you could say, although nobody does actually say it, "the Everest Mountain". That's good English, even though nobody has ever said it.
