That would suggest that long distances, before the internet, were 'visible'.🤔 The problem is you can't 'see' a distance. As Rosco, suggests :meaningless' would be a good substitute, or maybe, 'irrelevant', or 'unimportant'. These words all make sense here.

Doesn't make sense to use it to me. I'd use "meaningless" instead. Maybe it could be understandable to use "transparent" but it is a bit confusing and awkward.
