I'm not very fond of it. A couple should stay together because they continue to love eachother, not because they're legally bound together. It also costs a lot of money for the ceremony, and I don't care much for the religious background.

That said, I've failed to convince my girlfriend of the above, so I might get married anyway.

I gave up absolutely everything I had to be married and live in a foreign land.  My secure Civil Service job, my health insurance, my elderly father, my entire bank account only to be dumped 6 weeks before my wedding, only to return home broken in heart, spirit, wallet.  I was in my late 40s then, now at nearly 55, I will leave that to the younger folks.   I did as much as I could do to make it happen, and now I am done.

To be young, in love and devoted to one another is a wonderful treat, but sometimes the story turns out like mine, which is never good.

I think the marriage is important to have a wife, and  childreen and live together. Wonderfull feelings to wach your childreen growing day by day.
