phone call problem

Hi everybody

I have a big problem, maybe a little bit strange. My English is good and I can hold conversation in face to face but when I need to speak on the phone I am terrible. I am afraid from I won't understand what they want say to me. I feel so stupid. What can I do with it? How can I practice? Is it a common trouble or unique?

Dave put it rightly. There is a possibility of misunderstanding during audio conversations as the expressions and gestures are not visible.

Listening to audio conversation of others can help you to an extent but the most important is to practice your own conversation. You might request the other person to speak little slowly and you too can take pauses while speaking. Practicing more and more is the only way to go! All the best!

It will be useful if I listen some audio conversation?

Phonecalls are more difficult than face to face conversations. You can't see their face, read their expressions, know when they are pausing & it's your turn to talk. It's the reason that many prefer Skype with video rather than just audio.

Well, if you still have contact with English-speaking friends, then call them (audio only, if you are using Skype or something similar). It's easier to manage a phone call when you know who you are talking to. :)
