why do you want to learn Chinese?

Hi, i just what to know the reason you want to learn Chinese, as so many people complain that Chinese is extremely hard for them.

Ps. But i found that there are still so many foreigners who could speak very fluent Chinese, but they've only learn maybe 1 year, so i surprised that i've learned English for over 6 years when i was a school student, i can't express myself as i want. Or maybe it's just because there is no language learning environment?

also i found that even i am a Chinese it's hard for me to answer the questions about learning Chinese, it's hard for me to tell what's the different between two synonym, but some English or Russian speakers could easily tell me what's the different between two English words or Russian words. maybe i need to improve my Chinese first...ha-ha.

Let's go back to the subject, why do you want to learn Chinese? what's your motivation? What's the most difficult part for you?

Hello,

I've learned Chinese for a little over 4 years now, starting from when I was in the 10th grade. Initially, The reason why I started studying Chinese was just to get credits at my school. However, after a few semesters of Chinese I started getting really good at it and became the best in the class. I've won scholarships to go to China before because I can communicate in Chinese.

As of now, the main reason I learn Chinese is because I am interested in reading novels and communicating with others. I feel a great sense of joy whenever I speak Chinese to someone because most Americans can't speak a second language fluently. Also, I feel like learning a second language allows one to understand how individuals from a different culture think and behave.

Less important reasons include my hobby of translation and the occupational opportunities I can get access to if I am fluent in Chinese.

Learning anything well depends on a series of factors such as: teacher and learning materials quality, learning environment, but as on other comment said, the most important is to have the right motivation. If you want to learn Chinese or anything else never go by what others tell you - everyone has a different agenda in life, and so their reasons for learning Chinese, for example, may be vastly different from yours. The first thing you need to do is finding a purpose: Why do I want to learn Chinese? Is it a job requirement? Is it a hobby? Are you planning to move and work in China? etc., etc.,etc.

Once the purpose is there, the how to get it done will be simple carpentry.
