Hey everyone,

A lot of people talk about the role that various forms of media play in people's lives when it comes to learning languages. I've even heard talk among some that playing video games, both off and online, was a great help to them. On the one hand, you have an environment where you get some sense of how people talk in real life, and you can have fun while learning, using your communicative abilities in other languages towards a tangible goal. On the other hand, these environments aren't always too friendly, and some of the vocabulary you encounter may be a bit overspecialised, or... colourful for the tastes of some.

That said, this got me thinking about the idea of having some kind of language exchange group by way of a gaming platform, like Steam, PSN or Xbox Live. Now, I don't propose to represent such a group, nor do I necessarily intend to found one; I'd just like to gauge the general opinion on the matter. Maybe it's something some of you already do. What do you all think about it?
