I think by listening any content in the language you are trying to learn could help in your speaking skills, as long as you understand what they are saying and try to practice with it. Obviously, you can learn how to pronounce correctly some words by listening other people using them, but also it can improve other areas. For instance, it can give you a hint about how to stress properly the words in order to change the connotation of the phrase, which is known as intonation.

Being a passive listener won't help you anyway. Pay as much attetion as you can. Try to determine the difference between the intonation that they use. Also pay attention on how they connect the different phrases and ideas. And if you really want to improve your speaking then practice! One way to do it is trying to repeat what the guys are saying.

You listen to speak, you read to write.

How can you speak if you never heard something before?

How can you write if you never learned how to read a word and get to know its meaning?

Tell me, before you start speaking (as a toddler) weren't you listening? Or you think that everyone comes into this world with a language inside already? LOL

Just pay attention to all the deaf people (100% deaf) and see how important is to listen before speaking (that's nature). That's why the sign language exists, because they can see the movement of the hands that were associated with a message.

I'm sorry, but your question made me laugh out loud
