Actually, the thing that is awkward here is using "I've". Most native English speakers would simply say " I got lost in the Sicilian countryside". The only time you might add "have" would be if you were trying to make a point. For example, if someone said previously - No one ever gets lost in the Sicilian countryside", but in fact it happened to you at one time,  you might respond with,  "I'VE gotten lost in the Sicilian countryside", but you would also change got to gotten.
