What do you think? Where do you belong? Low, high or nowhere?

Got stumbled upon an article(<a href="https://online.seu.edu/articles/high-and-low-context-cultures/" style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">https://online.seu.edu/articles/high-and-low-context-cultures/</a>;) that has categorized cultures into two types namely, High-context culture and Low-context culture. And you can get a reflection of those cultures through the languages spoken by people.

High-context language: "A high-context culture relies on implicit communication and nonverbal cues. In high-context communication, a message cannot be understood without a great deal of background information."

Low-context language: "A low-context culture relies on explicit communication. In low-context communication, more of the information in a message is spelled out and defined."

If you are a westerner and learning any Asian languages, have you come across any kind of situation where you have no clue why is it what it is and vice versa?

Another thing that I have come across here is the usage of word "Dear". I mean most of the people who live in Europe or North America(and Australia, New Zealand?) may find it odd or strange if a strangers call them using "Dear". Do you think it's due to the aforementioned cultural dividend?

Lastly, now that the world has been globalized, do you think, irrespective of what culture you belong to, your culture is being influenced by the other one.

A healthy discussion is always appreciated!

And I wish you all have a great day:)

Language or languages have always been influenced by other languages and cultures; It is still an ongoing process.

All cultures have also been influenced by other cultures for as long as humans have walked the earth, this also is still an ongoing process.

Cultures and languages likewise have always been integral you cannot separate the two if you wish to communicate in a new language. The culture makes the language gives the language its words and provides the underlying logic and mental thought processes; that have produced that language in the first place.
