Do you think the end or the means is most important? Why?

“ Do the ends justify the means?” This is something I often hear people debate about. It is a very relatable philosophy that we can apply in most aspects of our lives. Is the journey more important than the destination? Tough question! I think this is a tough question because it is easy to choose the right means but the right means is usually the most difficult journey. Honestly, both are important. But if you let me choose, I would choose the means. I believe that the right means would eventually lead to your goals. If not, then at least you did the right thing.

“The ends justify the means” isn’t really the same as saying that the destination is more important than the journey. What it says is that the destination allows you to ethically do whatever you need to do to get there.

If you want to be rich, “the ends justify the means” allows you to exploit cheap labour to become rich.

This kind of philosophy is dehumanizing. It turns people into tools in others’ aspirations. It has been and continues to be used to justify exploitation as well as tyranny and dictatorship.

We all are in a journey towards the end but how memorable and interesting we can do that journey is up to us. Everyone wants a happy ending and it is only possible if we keep enjoying our journey by adding values through different means.
