Giáo viên chuyên nghiệpBe careful when using the dictionary Linguee
Linguee is a widely misunderstood dictionary. It offers translations which have been used on other websites. These websites have been created by people who are not at all experts in the target language. Often they provide wrong translations. It helps you to check how widespread a certain term might be, but is no guarantee for its grammatical accuracy. You can compare it to Google, which just offers you all websites containing a certain term or phrase.
An example: <a href="https://www.linguee.com/english-german/search?source=auto&query=Gutten+Tag" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://www.linguee.com/english-german/search?source=auto&query=Gutten+Tag</a>
The first two hits for 'Gutten Tag' (which should actually be Guten Tag) provides two examples with 'gutten' which are wrong. When scrolling down you will find more mistakes (one from text.habsburger.net)

Yes, it’s true that Linguee “uses existing websites and quotes them.” Again, if you misspell a word, guess what kind of website Linguee is going to quote? Anyhow, it’s best to look at all of the suggestions and choose the best one “manually”. Translation websites are just tools. With a hammer, a skilled workman can build a house. Myself, I’m more likely to wreck something :(

You are right, linguee offers the translation of phrases which other dictionaries don't do, but due to the various mistakes I would not recommend it to learners.
By the way, it is not about how the translator handles the word as linguee does not translate the page themselves but uses existing websites and quotes them.

That was wise of you to deliberately misspell one of the most common words in the German language just to see how the translator would handle it. Actually, I’d say most electronic translators fail miserably when it comes to even the most common typos. One typical example is when Spanish speakers write “si” instead of “sí” — then Google returns “if” instead of “yes”. To be honest, I think Linguee is one of the best out there for entire phrases (especially for English and Romance languages), as long as the user remembers to double check everything.
