English language is so widely spoken, it has often been referred to as a "world language' .Can we change that and make one of other language as English major of the world language is the publishing world the devotes considerable resources to the production of books,novels,newspaper etc.in helped English language to be as largest language by number of speaker .
Note: I know Mandarin Chinese is the first for native speakers in the world.
English has established itself as a global language over many centuries. The English language is taught all over the world, used commercially to varying degrees pretty much everywhere.
For English to lose its global status, places like the USA, UK and Australia would have to wiped out completely. Even then, a vast number of English speakers would continue speaking English abroad.
