Sheila
What do you think is the toughest part of learning a new language?

I recently travelled to Quebec City to study French intensively. I found the most difficult part was my ability to hear or develop an "ear" for the language. Many Ontarians in the past, have learned French from Ontario-born French teachers. Often I will see something written in French, and know exactly what it is, however I find 'hearing' the language to be the most difficult part. As an ESL teacher I find my students often struggle with this as well, sounding out the individual letters and knowing that what one thinks may be a "b" is really a "v" instead.

The hardest part about learning a new language is finding someone to practice and speak with. usually, people are afraid or embarassed to speak a new language knowing that they're not good at it

I agree it is hard to find someone a to practice within a new language. Another difficulty is that finding a language partner that is patient with you in the beginning stages of learning a new language.

the thing is that we are having shy to communicate with strangers....we are aware of if they have any discomfort to help us and all

Very true Emir! Taking that "plunge" and just going for it can be very difficult at first!
