Mandarin Chinese is our  official language , but English is not .We Chinese schools is active in improving students' English . Now most of the middle-age townspeople  know a litter English , and we the young man   is try to  improve English level . In the future , most of Chinese will speak English fluently .

Chinese speak Chinese of course,but many of us are learning English now.

Perhaps for the same reason that we Brazilians do not speak English as well. Brazilians and Chinese have a strong official language and resources in those languages so inside these two countries, English " doesn't " play an important role. But of course, if you want to succeed and cross the borders in your professional life and cultural mind, learning other languages is a good idea!
