I know this is suppose to be a comedy piece, but out of curiosity I wanted to ask you guys how real the german accent and tone is in that video

True or not, it's kinda funny :)
Sorry to be the humorless one, I wish I thought it was funny, but this is just dumb. German doesn't sound like that at all.
German really does different and can be quite challenging. It isn't necessary to overexaggerate. This video, for instance, was a response to a video where they make a bunch of Germans attempt to say 'squirrel'. It is a bunch of Canadians saying the German equivalent of 'squirrel' and it is genuine and amusing:
This is not what German sounds like at all!
These words are exaggerated and if you talked like this all the time, it would probably hurt your throat.
Just like in English, many letters and even syllables are left out in casual conversations. If anything I would compare this to a news reporter, because they have to speak very clearly but even they sound a lot smoother.
I knew even before clicking on the link that it was going to be that particular video haha.
The band Knorkator uses a style of pronounciation that comes quite close to the video, at least in many of their older songs. But they do that as deliberate anti-asthaethics... absolutely on purpose.
Having lived and studied in Germany for almost a year, I can honestly say that it's a tremendous exaggeration!
Nevertheless, it's hilarious! I remember the first time I saw that and couldn't stop laughing.
I'm sure you've also seen that it's one of many videos recorded by the same people, although I always felt that the original two were by far the best!
Generally in older TV series from the UK (a very famous one was called 'Allo 'Allo) the accent employed by characters to portay German sounds harsh, even though in reality I think it is simply because the sounds generally seem a little more 'clipped', or shorter than in English, for example. Nevertheless, for an English speaker, certainly with regard to my experience, I found it much easier to pronounce all the sounds correctly than I do with a Romance language, for example.
