First notebook entry: Introducing myself (self-introduction for a teaching position) Good morning! It is really my honor to have this opportunity for an interview. I hope I can make a good performance today. I'm confident that I can succeed. Now I will introduce myself briefly. My name is Wang Xiaoxiao and you can call me Linda. I came to know from a website that your company is one of the leading companies in English teaching and training. On seeing the past performance, your company policies, a nature of work and responsibilities, and the pay structure, I came to a conclusion that I have a suitable placement in your company. Regarding my capacities, I graduated from the University of Essex in December 2006 with a degree in Linguistics and have been working as an English teacher at Jiang Han University since September, 2009. I was born in a family that both of my parents are teachers and the teaching job can make me happy and feel a sense of fulfilling. In the past three years, I gained a variety of teaching techniques and I am confident that I can handle the classroom teaching properly anywhere or to anyone. In my opinions, being a qualified teacher needs these factors: a passion for teaching, concern for students, patience as well as tolerance and outstanding knowledge. I have been teaching intensive English for students of International Cooperation Programs and some of them have a low English proficiency and lose confidence in themselves as English learners. I pay attention to this. I talk with them in private and help them with any problem they may have met. I always motivate them to build confidence in themselves and some of them have already made remarkable achievements in English learning. In my leisure time, I like cooking and I’m good at cooking different styles of dishes. So, I prefer to eat at home rather than in a restaurant. I enjoy the leisure time when all family members eat together. I always go to an open market with my husband on weekends and we prepare the ingredients for cooking together. Cooking is something couples can do together — like biking or going to museums. I think food brings out intimacy in people, especially relationship between husband and wife.
