Japanese Lesson for beginners 2-2 はい、そうです。いいえ、そうじゃありません。 みなさん、こんにちは。 麻子です。 前回 の 言葉 を 覚えました か。(ぜんかい の ことば を おぼえました か） - zenkai no kotoba wo oboemashita ka. -- Do you remember the vocabularies I gave you the last time? --- 前回(ぜんかいzenkai) last time 言葉（ことばkotoba) word 覚えます (おぼえますoboemasu) remember 覚えました（おぼえました oboemashita ) remembered --- Me: <your name >さん、それ は 雑誌（ざっし）ですか。( pointing a book close to you) - <your name>san, sore wa zasshi desu ka. You: いいえ、これ は 雑誌（ざっし）じゃありません。本です。 - iie, kore wa zasshi ja arimasen. hon desu. you can also say; You: いいえ、そう じゃありません。本です。 - iie, sou ja arimasen. hon desu. --- いいえ、そう じゃ ありません。 - iie, sou ja arimasen. -- No, it isn't. and if you want to say "yes", はい、そう です。 - hai, sou desu. -- Yes, it is. --- Easier, isn't it? We'd actually say "そうです/そうじゃありません" more. However, I didn't tell you last time because I wanted you to remember to answer with "これ” even though you asked with "それ” You must remember it anyway because "そうです/そうじゃありません" is only used when someone asked if it is something. If someone asked what it is, you must answer like this; それ は 何 ですか？(それは なん ですか） - sore wa nan desu ka. (これ は) 本 です。（これは ほん です） - (kore wa) hon desu. Again, remember それ is for things which close to THE LISTNERS, while これ is for thing which close to THE SPEAKERS. それは、本（ほん）ですか。 - sore wa hon desu ka. はい、そうです。 - hai, sou desu. --- By the way, do you remember hiragana already? り ← これは i ですか、ri ですか。 - ri です。 め ← これは me ですか、nu ですか。 What about katakana? ケ ← これは ku ですか、ke ですか。 シ ← これは shi ですか、chi ですか。 I'll write the answer on the comment. :-) --- Feel free to ask/ make me correct your self-study.
