Peru - Geography: about Relief (3) The jungle, located towards the east, is a wide plain covered by vegetation. Is almost 60% of the country's surface. We appreciate two different regions: high jungle and low jungle. The high jungle or "yunga" is located along the west side of the Andes. Its height varies between 3 500 down to 800 m. It embraces from the northern border zone until the south extreme of the country. The relief of this zone is diverse and in the areas where the Andean Range goes through this, we find very steeped zones. The low jungle or Amazonian Tropical Forest, is located between 800 down to 80 m. The landform is flat and and highlights the presence of Contamana Mounts, located in the left bank of Yavari River. Its highest point reaches 780 m.
