I got this from a friend Yeap, you are right. nadaarid is only negative not imperative. For this verb "doost daashtan" it's a bit different. We make it imperative as this: doost daashte baash/ doost nadaashte baash this is one way the other way is its older way which is this prefix ma it's an old prefix and it's not common in daily conversations it's literary. shomaa khaahar daarid/ shomaa khaahar nadaarid. you have a sister/ you don't have a sister shomaa khaaharetaan raa doost daarid/ doost nadaarid khaaharat raa doost daashte baash- doost nadaashte baash Love your sister- don't love your sister if we want to compose a literary text, we may prefer to use madaar...

it's correct. here bible says "do not love" so the Persian translation needs to be imperative دوست مَدارید. دوست ندارید means "you don't love"
