今天我被一家中国公司为我提供了一份翻译工作机会。这是我的第一次被人提供一份收到翻译工作机会，但是我拒绝了！为什么呢？因为这家公司取笑我简直就是在开玩笑。，这家公司他们要求我在3天内把一万个汉字翻成英文，他们说每个字我翻译他们才会给我支付£0.01。£0.01，这真是太过分了！行业的平均价格是每个字 0.12 至 0.40 （根据工作需要翻译内容难易及要求而定）。我知道我是个新手，不过但是我绝对不会接受那么低的价格，。这家公司的人肯定是一群Jokers！

"取笑" means laugh at or make fun of sb./sth. you say this when you think they are stupid. For example:It's cruel to make fun of a cripple.(取笑瘸子是残忍的。) But in this case, this company didn't laugh at you. In fact, it's really common in China.As far as I know, the price they offer for primary translators may be less than £0.01 per word(either English to Chinese or Chinese to English). So I think you want to say that the price the company offers is ridiculous. Right? Then you'de better use 开玩笑。

You can say 拿我便宜. Chinese companies are like this. Because of their cheapness, they insult the talented. They don't understand the principle of 九出＋三归.

p.s. Beth I am not sure about this,or how should I translate this into Chinese,so I don't really know.But according to your idea,I don't think that is right.Because “因为公司取笑我” means "Because this company laughed at me." What do you say?
