Science vs. Poetry. My Opinion Essay

What is more important: science or poetry? People have been reflecting on the answer of to this question for centuries <em>(maybe art or science, but not poetry - art includes poetry)</em>. I think, everybody has his or her their own answer.

From my point of view, poetry is more important than science. Firstly, poetry helps people to stay healthy mentally. In other words, it fulfills people’s inner worlds, sets them thinking. Secondly, it makes people creative. Usually, without imagination people cannot invent something anything great, and even scientists need creativity that can be developed enhanced by poetry.

On the other hand, some people claim that science is a stimulus to progress. If there had not been science, people would have sat around the fire and slept on the bare ground chanting poetry haha.

It makes sense, but, in my opinion, all technologies and inventions are useless, if people have nothing in their souls. For example, I have read a novel `We` by E. Zamyatin where people have all the comfortable conditions for living, but they do not have poetry, and all feelings and emotions are forbidden. This book proves asserts that without spiritual values people are just robots.

Despite other people’s opinion, I am still convinced that people need poetry more than science. Poetry makes people emotionally safe and more imaginative. Without poetry humanity does not live but just exists.
