The Celts

Historians know very LITTLE about Celts' history. This civilization, whose different tribes came from different places, is thought to have settled in Central Europe during the Iron Age. They hardly ever used handwritten language, since they mainly communicated orally. The Celt civilization was made up of many tribes, each of them different from the other. However, they spoke the same language and had a very similar religion. They were warriors. Little by little THEY were invading many countries in Europe such as Britannia and Iberia, in other words Great Britain and The Spanish Mainland. Although they were savage warriors, they lacked discipline, which led them to be beaten by the Romans. The warriors fought naked, wearing only a kind of pendant. Besides this, they painted their bodIES in blue, using a special ink which they OBTAINED from a plant called glasto. They had their own ethicAL codes while fighting. For example, they considered IT unacceptable to be attacked by more than one soldier at a time. After winning a battle ,the Celts used to celebrate by having a feast, which lasted for several days. At those feasts musicians and poets performed, usually praising the bravest soldiers.

Also, some of these tribes are known to cremate their dead and keep their ashes in ceramic RECEPTACLES. They used to play a game called fidchell, which was very similar to chess. It is also known that they were obsessed with their physical appearance; overweight people were looked down on.
