中国文化: 玉如意
《这本来是抓痒用的东西,因为柄很长,哪里都抓得到,能够如人之意,所以叫如意。玉做的如意,就是玉如意。后来有人想到到如果拿来送礼,可以祝人事事如意,真是再合适不过了,于是改用于长玉来做,就变长玉如意了。》

In fact, there is two expressions which remains unclear in my mind:
《能够如人之意》: 之意的意思我猜不到,可是去上网都哪里看看的字典,您看得见"之意"的词吗?
“之意”不是一个词,是两个字。“之”是结构助词,表示“的”的意思。“意”是“心思、愿望”的意思。“如人之意”的意思就是能满足顺从你的意思。“如意”就是痒痒挠,你哪里痒就挠哪里,让你满意,所以叫“如意”。
《真是再合適不過了》: 我觉得意思是"This was really not appropriate." (The fact that when someone bring back a present to offer, one could wish to this person "best wishes of hapiness and success."), 对吧?
不是,你理解错了。in this sentence ,"後來有人想到到如果拿來送禮,可以祝人事事如意,真是再合適不過了" means some people give "Ruyi " to others as a present ,it can wish this people best wishes of hapiness and success,.And there isn't any present could be better and suitable than this one .“真是再合适不过了”=“真是最合适的了”
