Italki isn't a language learning app. It is primarily a marketplace for matching up individual students with individual teachers. You use italki by finding a teacher and paying them to give you lessons. Every teacher is independent and they all use their own methods and systems of teaching. Italki manages the process by scheduling lessons, protecting the teacher by collecting the lesson payment in advance, protecting the student by not giving the payment to the teacher until the student confirms the lesson, etc. I'm a student and so far every "professional teacher" I've used on italki has been good. Everything else--like this forum--is just a small side benefit.

If you click on the ‘Find a teacher’ tab you can start looking for a teacher you’d like to practice with, just choose the language you’d like to practice and many different teachers will appear! Every teacher has their own prices, specialisations, and personality; so you can search for what works best for you and your language-learning goals. If you click on the ‘Community’ tab you’ll arrive here. The community is a great place where you can ask questions about language-learning, practice your writing and conversation skills, resolve any doubts about grammar or speaking, and even find a language exchange partner! iTalki is a very intuitive platform, so you’ll be able to use it easily in no time.
