Without context, I'm not 100% sure this is what your text means, but... At least in U.S. English, "perks" is short for "perquisites." Perks are benefits that you receive in addition to the regular compensation for work. They go beyond the formal "fringe benefits" (for example, medical insurance, retirement savings plan, education reimbursement, vacation days, etc.) that are part of a job contract. Some perks of being an executive might be a corner office, dedicated assistant, and reserved parking space. Although we usually talk about perks in relation to work, the word could refer to any special privileges that come with status or position. For example, we could say that, for small countries, a perk of being a member of a golf club is that you can always get a table in the club restaurant. So I'm guessing your text is talking about someone who is making or has made a decision in order to enjoy certain perks. I hope that helps!

Hello! "Perks" are special benefits or advantages you receive in addition to what you normally get. So at work, a "perk" could be getting free coffee, or getting extra days off. People also use the word a lot in reference to credit cards. When you have a credit card, you might get perks such as cashback, travel rewards, or discounts on shopping. For example, "with my credit card I get a lot of perks. Last Summer, I got a discount on a hotel when I travelled to Seoul." To get a perk is simply to receive one of these perks (another good verb here is "redeem" these perks). So for a credit card, you could say "I got a credit card perk that gives me travel discounts". I hope that answers your question. If you'd like to practice speaking or have a conversation, I'd be happy to help you. Feel free to look at my teaching profile and send me a message if you would like to discuss this further and develop your conversational skills in class. :)

When using this credit card, you get the perks of 5% off your purchases. 2. One of the perks of being in a relationship is constant companionship. 3. The perks of exercising reguarly is that you feel better and are healthier. 4. What are the perks I get out of using this product versus another one? 5.
