Gia sư cộng đồng3 Thai words that ALL mean “want”… but will change your vibe completely 👀🇹🇭
✨ อยาก (yàak)
👉 เอา (ao)
🙏 ขอ (khǎw)
Same idea. Different energy.
Let’s break it 👇
1️⃣ 🤍 อยาก (yàak) = want (feeling)
→ inside desire
→ soft, natural
• 🍚 อยากกินข้าว (yàak gin kâao) = I want to eat
• ✈️ อยากไปเที่ยว (yàak bpai thîao) = I want to travel
This is just your feeling.
No one needs to give you anything.
2️⃣ 👉 เอา (ao) = want / take (direct)
→ real-life Thai
→ used when choosing or ordering
• 🛍️ เอาอันนี้ (ao an níi) = I’ll take this
• 💧 เอาน้ำ (ao náam) = I want water
💡 Add ค่ะ/ครับ (kâ/kráp) to sound polite
This is direct. Fast. Local.
⚠️ Too flat = can sound demanding 😬
⚠️ Wrong context = can sound… spicy 😏
3️⃣ 🙏 ขอ (khǎw) = ask for (polite)
→ softer, more respectful
→ good with strangers
• 💧 ขอน้ำหน่อย (khǎw náam nòi) = Can I have some water?
• ❓ ขอถามหน่อย (khǎw thǎam nòi) = Can I ask something?
💡 Add ค่ะ/ครับ (kâ/kráp) for extra politeness
This is when you care about politeness.
The real difference 👀
🤍 อยาก (yàak) = I feel like
👉 เอา (ao) = I’m taking it
🙏 ขอ (khǎw) = May I have
Say the wrong one…
and your Thai instantly feels off 😅
👇 Which one do you use the most?
