Some children spend hours every day on their smartphones. Why is this the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative development? It is believed that cell phones time in the youngest age category counts hours each day. One of the possible reasons for that could be in advertisements, which attract young brains to use digital devices, such as smartphones. In my point of view, this tendency can be very harmful for kids due to reducing their physical activities. The popularization of digitalization for children in mass media resources can be an engine of spending hours per day on smartphones because they would like to be a part of society and the ability to play in particular games or using apps allows kids to interact with their peers. As a consequence, smartphones take children’s time every day, because they are following the marketing to maintain their digital profile every day. For instance, the popular app for learning languages, Duolingo, pushes people to take lessons twice a day via messages, pop-up ads and emails. There are many cons for this tendency, but the main of them could be inability to be involved in different kinds of sport activities, because this combination of using the smartphones and exercises together is not possible at this time. People should watch the screen and in most cases have the phone in their hands. Reducing the exercise time for kids could reflect on their health and well-being in the long run as a result of excessive using smartphones. In conclusion, the children’s tendency to use smartphones many hours per day could be a result of marketing strategies of different companies who produce digital content and in my opinion it could lead to reducing indoor and outdoor exercises which are so important in their age and can help kids to be healthy in the future.
