What is the difference between companhia and compania? A friend from Brazil told me that where he works people write Compania, are both okay?

Companhia é a presença de outra pessoa com você. Uma pessoa faz companhia à outra ficando ai seu lado. (Companhia is the presence of another person with you) ou pode ser empresa comercial. Uma associação de pessoas com fins econômicos. (Companhia is a business company, an economical enterprise). Obrigado João pela correção.
