Can you please explain the expression さがしているんですが to me? When you break it down . Does each parts have a meaning by itself? If so, could you please tell me? It's easier for me remember something when I understand where it came from. Also, knowing the parts will help me when I see them on a new expression. Thank you in advance :)

kojikara already explained it, but if you want to look up details: さがして = -te form (similar to the -ing form in English) of 探す "to search". -te form (in context of a different usage): http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar/compound いる = to exist, here: -te iru = enduring/continous form http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar/teform ん = explanatory の http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar/nounparticles です = polite auxiliary http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar/polite が = adversative sentence conjunction http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar/compound

I think this sentence can divide like this. I'm not sure for Japanese grammar so instead of explaining grammar, I'll show some examples. さがしーて いるーん ですーが さがし(verb) てーいるform 探して(さがして)いる 読んで(よんで)いる 食べて(たべて)いる 見て(みて)いる 泣いて(ないて)いる 笑って(わらって)いる in this sentence, いる has a similar function with kinking verb. I am finding~ I am reading~ I am eating~ ・・・・・・・・・・ いるーん This part's ん come from の the polite way is 「の」 いるんですが→いるのですが さがしているんですがcould be→さがしているのですが よんでいるんですが→よんでいるのですが たべているんですが→たべているのですが Actually this んform is a little casual way. 「です」 The end of the sentence, you cannot finish うorる to add [ですorでした] さがしているのです よんでいるのです たべているのです 「が」 connect two sentences together but this time to express a contradiction さがしていますが、みつかりません。 よんでいますが、おもしろくありません。 たべていますが、おいしくありません。 I think this explanation is not enough to understand the sentence structure so please check your grammar book at the same time.
