Dunkel / dunkLE
In German the word 'dark is 'dunkel' but why does it become 'dunkLE' in the
following sentence;
es gibt dunklE Wolken im Himmel
ie, the 'el' has become 'le'??

Depending on gender or plural the adjective is modified:
die Wolken - Es gibt dunkle Wolken.
die Wolke - Es gibt eine dunkle Wolke.
der Tisch - Es gibt einen dunklen Tisch.
das Auto - Es gibt ein dunkles Auto.
Die Wolke (/Der Tisch /Das Auto) ist dunkel.
Die Wolken (/Tische /Autos) sind dunkel.
