= the opposite, contrary; 不能假装不是这样 (?)

saying otherwise would be similar in some aspects to lying. saying "otherwise" would be saying the opposite of whats true. "the red car is red and there would be no reason to say otherwise" it could also be saying anything contrary to the truth, or what is believed by the speaker. hope this helps.
