Personal 'a' in Spanish Personal 'a' in Spanish I still get confused on when to use the personal 'a' in Spanish. I'm hoping someone can explain this to me? Thanks in advance for helping me get the answer to my question. :)

Hi, I don't pretend to give an "official explanation" but as native Latin American Spanish speaker I use "a" when I tell somebody about an action that I'll do or is happening to me. Thus, "a" is commonly used when you talk about your own actions. Ex: - Voy a la playa (I'm going to the beach) - Tengo que viajar a Brazil mañana. (I've to travel to Brazil tomorrow.) - Nos vemos el viernes a las 8pm. (We see you on Friday at 8pm.) - Le debo dinero a mi novia. (I owe money to my girlfriend. In all the statements above you use "a" when you talk about something of yourself. Hope this helps!
