Typing in Spanish, and different forms of written Spanish. I am trying to work out how to type all the different special accents and punctuation marks in Spanish. I've done some Googling, and first found the method to use codes to type them, this sounds very time consuming and I will never remember all the different codes. So, next I went to install a Spanish keyboard onto my laptop, but to my dismay found 20 different keyboards under Spanish. Most had place names after them for example Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala and Peru, and 2 that said :Spain international sort, and traditional sort. My questions are: 1: Which keyboard should I use? 2: Is Spanish really written differently in all these places? Why so many keyboards?

I am using a keyboard from the US and I've found several ways to type accents. Maybe they don't work for you but I'll describe them anyway. 1. So, I have a button that looks like ,'' If I press it once and consequently a vocal it turns into this letter with an accent aigu: é á ó ú í. 2. For the Ñ: the button left from the row of numbers that looks like ,~ . Shift + this button + N --> ñ 3. Holding the right ALT on the keyboard + pressing any vocal or N and you can type all of the special letters: í ó ú é ñ á. Let me know if they work for you!

I can tell you my opinion: No different letters or symbols in the Spanish of Spain that used in Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, etc ... then it may be only a trade issue or different models for your convenience.
