Up for / Want to.... I'm up for some Chinese food / I want to have some Chinese food.. We're going out dancing tonight. Are you up for it? / We're going out dancing tognight. Do you want to join us? What's the difference between those sentences?..What kind of feeling or nuance do you get when you speak each sentence?..My guess is that they have pretty much the same meaning but the word " up for" is stronger than the word " want to" when it comes to nuance .Am i right?.If not, correct me,please.. Thank you.

I do not know if one is stronger than the other. "Up for" is more colloquial and informal. Also, up for asks about desire, but it also asks something more. I feel it asks readiness and ability as well as desire. "Do you want to go out dancing?" "I'd like to, but I don't know if I'm up for it. I just got over my illness".

Are you up for it? = Are you ready for it?
