(I don't think the "if" is needed, but maybe your previous sentence leads to it.) But it is not so, as namely it is faith that gives you the power of knowledge. (No need to use "the" unless you're talking about something specific. Knowledge is abstract. "The power" works though because it's part of a phrase..."the power of knowledge" or "the ability to sing", for example.) Knowledge without confidence, knowledge without recognition, is dead proof ( ie. knowledge). You can know that the plane can lift you, but if you are not sure of this fact, you will never decide to board this/the plane. (Here "the" refers to a specific plane, the plane used in your example, so it's good.)
