"Fight over demonetisation continues in parliament" why simple present I often see these types of sentences in news headlines such as "Fight over demonetization continues in parliament" so in this case why the simple present is used and why not the present continuous "Fight over demonetization is continuing in parliament" is used?

This is typical of news headlines. You will only see it in news. Note, in ordinary language it would be: "THE fight over demonetisation IS CONTINUING in parliament." You will see the simple present used to refer to past events to. There it is the "vivid present" e.g. "Man dies in car crash".
