How many tv channels can you see in the UK without paying? HI, I was wondering, apart from the annual licence fee, how many tv channels can you receive in your home in the UK without paying extra costs and without a satellite dish? Moreover, are there any channels you can see only in some regions, like only in Wales or only in England or even by counties, so small tv stations that you may catch only in greater London or in Yorkshire? Thank you

On BBC1 there is national news at 6pm every day. Then from 6:30 until 7 there is regional news. This differs depending on where you live in the country. For example, where I live, the regional news is called 'Look East'. In Yorkshire, where my father is from, it is 'Look North'. And so on. On ITV the situation is reversed. The local news is at 6:00 and the national news is at 6:30. There is a Welsh language channel that you can see in England if you have a satellite dish, called S4C. In Wales, I don't know, but I would be very confident that there are Welsh language channels available. There are regional programming differences, yes. Just as one small example, in the north, a sport called 'rugby league' is very popular. There is a show there that broadcasts highlights of the games every week. I've seen it when I've visited my cousins. In the south and in the Midlands where I live, it isn't shown because there is much less interest.

Most people have "free sat" with their TVs and no dish is required. Here is a list of all the free channels, including the regional ones http://cdn.freesat.co.uk/freesat/freesat_website/content/downloadables/channels%20guide%20-%20jan%205%202017.pdf

correct answer is "none", because you have to pay the TV license fee if you have a TV that is capable of receive live broadcasting. and I know only handful of countries that have TV license fees: Finland, Japan, UK...
