おなか、こわしました　is an indirect way to say you have diarrhea?
Ok, so my Japanese wife told me that rather than having to tell a pharmacist or anyone that I have diarrhea, I can use this phrase.

I usually say something like: 今日、ずっとげりしてます which is a little direct, but alright with me most of the time.

I'm still unclear about this phrase because おなか　means stomach, and while the stomach and bowels are connected, the phrase sounds more like "My stomach is broken (upset stomach)".

Could a Japanese person please explain this phrase to me and let me know how to use it?

you can use both of them. As another expression, おなかの調子が悪い。
おなかは、腹を丁寧にいう語。もと女性語。（大辞泉）
おなかを壊しました is a verbal expression such as "I have a butterfly in my stomach."
No one says "私のおなかの中に蝶を飼ってます."

In my case, I prefer to say おなかをこわしました　instead of 下痢をしています
I think both have the same meaning.
But most of Japanese around me prefer to say it indirectly.
