What does "our shared humanity" mean (in English/Vietnamese/Japanese)?
what is the common definition of "our shared humanity" in English/Vietnamese/Japanese?
According to Longman Dictionary, common/shared humanity is the state of being human rather than an animal or machine. => However, I don't really get it, especially I can't find any similar word in Vietnamese (for translation ^^).
Some examples:
"The theme of this year’s World Humanitarian Day is ‘One Humanity’. This theme highlights the importance of our shared humanity- building connections across divides and creating a sense of shared responsibility for addressing displacement." (http://whd.iom.int/our-shared-humanity)
"When our shared humanity is recognized, deep connections can be built across cultural divides, which can support both inner and outer peace." (https://www.globalonenessproject.org/resources/lesson-plans/our-shared-humanity)
:D Thank you ~~

'humanity' = being human.
It means that, although we come from different countries, speak different languages, and follow different religions, we are all human beings. Our 'shared humanity' or 'being human' is the thing we have in common. When we accept that we are all the same (all human), we will be able to communicate better despite our differences.
