What's the difference between 'graduate' and 'post-graduate'? I know they are different, but they have the same Chinese meaning sometimes.

graduate means that you have finished your basic academic degree (bachelor's degree) example: Simon is a graduate of accounting. This means that Simon has a bechelor's degree in accounting. post graduate means masters or phd studies.

Hello Wendy, graduate: Is when one holds an academic degree ,he/she is a graduate, having finished university study for example. post-graduate: when one engages in further formal studies after graduation, as an extensive effort to hold higher degree Certificates such as PhD.

Sure Dano you misspelled it "typographical error", but I pronounced it. I just have this habit of pronouncing some words I type, it helps me not misspelling them !

DanO, I think you are a bit confused. graduate is not doing masters or PhD. graduate means that you have already graduated from some kind of formal tertiary education. post-graduate or doing graduate studies or going to graduate school means you are getting courses from your graduate school. post graduate does not mean when you are getting a job as a professor

Well Dano , technically ( correctly pronounced ;) ) spoken post doc would mean post PhD ,, PhD =from the latin philosophiae doctor ( doctor of philosophy) so the post doc would be advanced studies or research work beyond doctor's level i guess. Anyways you are right about the usage of terms in every day life in a less technical manner . But did you mean Wendy's answer or mine ?? i got confused :)
