What does '아기 호박' refer to? Can it mean any type of small vegetable from the squash family? In the show i was watching, a man asked his child for what was translated as 'zucchini', but he actually said '아기 호박'. I believe '호박' means 'squash' (as in the entire family that includes pumpkins, courgettes, butternut squash etc), so to me, '아기 호박' would translate as 'baby squash'. But the child actually came back with what looked like an '애호박', which is just a small type of squash but i guess is often called in English, 'Korean Zucchini', because it's similar to our western version of a courgette. So i suppose both the english translation of 'zucchini' and '아기 호박' do make sense as a term. But is '아기 호박' an official term for '애호박'? Or was he just trying to be sort of... cute? Could '아기 호박' refer to other types of small squashes? A small pumpkin for example? Would the Korean word for 'pumpkin', also be '호박', or do they have a more specific name for it? I think essentially what my question has boiled down to is; what are the Korean words for all the different types of squashes?

아기 호박 is not a official term for any kind of squash. It means "baby pumpkin" or "baby squash according to your term" and It can be used for any kind of very small squashes. 애호박 literally means "immature pumpkin". But it commonly used for "Korean Zucchini/courgette" pumpkin is called "늙은 호박" zucchini is called "돼지호박" butternut is called "땅콩호박" squash is called "단호박"
