Lose and Miss Hello everyone! I know quite well the difference between "lose" and "miss" but I don't understand when I have to use "miss" when I talk about objects. I lost my key. -------> It's ok. I understand the verb "lost". I don't understand these setences: the key is missing. I'm missing the key. Could you make some examples with the verb "miss" referring to an object?? Thank you

I've probably missed the point. I missed the opportunity to learn Italian. I missed the news headlines, so I don't know what's going on in the world. A vital ingredient is missing. We cannot make the cake.

Interesting question. For me, there is a subtle difference. If it's missing, I just don't have it. Maybe I misplaced it and will find it soon. Lost is more final - it's gone.
