"Me olvido" vs "se me olvide"

In the lyrics of Mayores by Becky G, I found "se me olvide". I'm wondering if there is any difference between saying "me olvido" vs "se me olvide". I googled this question, and somebody said that the speaker is distancing from the responsibility when using the passive construction. Is it something like saying in English "I remember something" vs "it reminds me of something (= it makes me remember something")?

The entire part of lyrics is like this, in case the context matters;
A mí me gusta que me traten como dama aunque a veces se me olvide cuando estamos en la cama.

The verb "olvidar" means to forget. Me olvido (present tense) I forget 
The verb "olvidarse"  means oneself forgets something. Se me olvide (subjunctive tense).

In English you would use a prensent conjugation instead of subjunctive: "aunque se me olvide" or "aunque me olvide" both mean "even if I forget"

1.- me olvide el libro de matemática en casa
2.- me olvide  el lapicero azul en el colegio

3.- aveces me olvido de hacer las tareas por estar jugando
4.- te amo tanto aunque aveces se me olvide que solo soy tu amante

You could have used both, but the lyric may have not worked in the other case.

That is,

As per the original: 
A mí me gusta que me traten como dama 
aunque a veces se me olvide 
cuando estamos en la cama.

Or,
A mí me gusta que me traten como dama 
aunque a veces ME OLVIDO DE ESO
cuando estamos en la cama.

There is no distancing from responsability here between the two forms. I would say both have the same meaning.

In my opinion, they are very similar but. 
When you say "me olvido". You are not admitting that you are   doing something  wrong. You forget something, but is not very important. "me olvidó de que el tabaco es malo, y me enciendo otro cigarrillo" 
When you say "se me olvidó" you are admitting that you are doing  something wrong. You forget something important and this was your responsability. You forget this, no to another person. "ayer se me olvidó tomar la medicina"... "Se me olvidó, a mi".
But there are hardly any difference between the two.
