When you paraphrase a sentence, you simply re-state it using different words, but still keep the same meaning. For example: "Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?" ..can be paraphrased as: "Romeo, Romeo, why did you have to be Romeo - why did you have to be who you are? Usually, when someone paraphrases a sentence, they do it in a way that is more understandable to the person doing the paraphrasing.

Hello Elvis, It is simply rephrasing it, saying it in another way .When your teacher tells you to paraphrase a difficult sentence he asks you to say it using simpler less difficult words to make it more comprehensible! For example : " The intricate structure of the sentence makes it incomprehensible" The sentence could be difficult for an intermediate or basic English learner ,so by paraphrasing it you could make it easier to understand through using easier vocabulary for example: "The complicated building of the sentence makes it difficult to understand".

It means to find different ways to say the same thing. Start by looking for new vocabulary words- english has a lot of words for the same thing because so many different languages went into it. That will give you some variants. Then also try structuring the sentence differently. reverse the object and subject, use different clauses.
