in this US tv, why does he hate her father buying a car? Hi you guys, I'm watching US. tv Friends. and in the scene below, i don't understand:1. why the fact that Rachel's father wants to buy her a car bothers Ross(Ross likes her).2. what is "extended disco version with three choruses. I know every word, but I don't know them together. here are scripts: ..... Rachel: It's my father. He wants to give me a Mercedes convertible. Ross: That guy, he 【burns me up】. Rachel: well, it's a Mercedes if I move back home. Oh, it was horrible. He called me young lady. Chandler: Ooh, I hate when my father calls me that. Monica: Did he give you that whole "You're-not-up-to-this" thing again? Rachel: Oh, yeah, yeah. Actually, 【I got the extended disco version, with three choruses of "You'll never make it on your own".】 Phoebe: (rhythmically) Uh-huh, uh-huh. disco is a kind of music right? why would Rachel's father talk to her in a disco version? chorus is when you sing together, who did rachel's father criticize her with? three choruses refers to what?

1. In the US, it is expected that people move out of their parents' houses in their late teens or twenties. It is considered part of growing up. Rachel's dad is treating her like a small child. Asking her to move back to his house (instead of living away from home) is insulting. Ross isn't mad that her dad is offering her a car. He's mad that her father is continuing to insult Rachel by saying she is incompetent. 2. It is an analogy. A normal song is about 3 minutes. An "extended disco version" is the same song, but can last for 8-10 minutes. It is longer and has more music (extra vocals, more music. it might add a new verse. it might play the chorus even more times.) She's saying that her dad didn't give his usual speech - he gave a longer version.

Rachel’s father only wants to buy her a car to pressure her into moving back into his (i.e. her parents’) home. In American culture, that is usually not cool. “Extended disco version” refers to an extra long version of a song that would be played in a disco — a 1970s-style nightclub. She means that her father lectures her (talks at her as if she were a child) too much, in a very boring manner, telling her “you’ll never make it on your own.” Basically, her father thinks she is a loser and is trying to control her by offering her a car. As far as Ross, I can’t remember the series that well, but I imagine if Rachel moved in with her parents, Ross wouldn’t see her that often.

You also asked about "chorus". "Chorus" can mean "refrain": the part of the song that is repeated several times. Her father repeated "you'll never make it on your own" three times. "You'll never make it on your own" means "you can't succeed without my help."
