In football (soccer) what are the differences between chip, clip and flick? CHIP: Eriksen chips a cross into the middle, looking for Alli, but it’s too high for him. FLICK: Kabasele does well to stick with the striker and flick the ball behind as he tries to cut inside and shoot. CLIP: Barrow bowls down the left, then slips a pass inside for Aluko, who clips a first-time shot towards the bottom left from the edge of the box.

I found these definitions in a football dictionary: Flick (-on) - a quick touch of a ball already moving in a particular direction, generally performed with the head or foot, which increases its range and/or elevation without changing the direction significantly Chip - a high soft kick used to lift a ball over another player's heads Chip Pass - a pass lofted into the air from a player to a teammate Chip Shot - a kick lofted into the air to try to sail the ball over the goalkeeper's head and still make it under the crossbar into the goal This was just in a normal dictionary (I don't think it is an official football term): Clip [ T ] to hit something or someone with a short sharp movement:
