What do I do when I can't speak fluently. Professional advice is needed!!!! The only thing I struggle with the most in English is speaking. I can fluently write, read and understand English, I can even think in English when it comes to writing but I can't speak fluently even though I have an idea in mind and want to say it aloud. Also, my mind goes blank, can't think of anything when I am on edge. I really don't know why that would happen and I feel quite frustrated because I have messed up my few job interviews because of my poor spoken English, I desperately hope I can fix that problem as soon as possible so I would like to listen to your advice and get your help on this matter about what I can do to speak English without thinking and fluently within a short time and where I can find a language partner online because I never have a language partner since I started to learn English. Thanks in advance. Your help will be greatly appreciated!!!

The only way to become proficient - at anything - is practice, practice, practice.

You can read and write fluently because you don´t feel compelled to rush. When you are speaking - especially with native speakers of the language - you feel obliged to keep a certain pace. You instinctively intuit the rhythm of the conversation and attempt to match it. As others have stated, talk to people all the time in English. But in addition to that, anytime you are alone, *talk to yourself* in English. If you're home, in your office, driving your car; wherever you are, talk to yourself. Talking by yourself gives you the opportunity to make mistakes and work on your diction, speech, and confidence. If you do that for a few weeks, your ability to converse easily and confidently with others will greatly improve. EDIT: Another thing I just thought of that I do with Spanish: If your work has any redundant tasks or logging, keep your notes in English. For example, I perform the same steps each time I use GitHub, so the steps are in Spanish. When I perform these steps, I recite them out loud in Spanish. Also, even though all of my emails and work with others is in English, I keep my notes in Spanish. This keeps me thinking and talking all the time in Spanish.

It is precise to practice every day. Maybe you could set some topics or daily situations and talk about with someone. Even if you don't have any language partner, you should speak alone sometimes!

Agreed. You have to speak to get better! It will be hard at first. For months I would sweat like crazy everytime I spoke because it was so uncomfortable. I would pause constantly, couldn't find the words and the conversation was slow. But eventually my brain and my mouth became better at working together.

You really need to get a lot of practice with English speakers and get used to speaking, even if it’s difficult at first. I’m sure getting together with many folks here would help you a great deal by using Skype. Start off slowly and just work on your speed.
