『今、引退しています』 Now I am retired ⇒ 「今、退職しています」 / 「既に退職しています」 * "Retire (from work)" in Japanese is "退職 (たいしょく)" "引退" is more commonly used in "retiring from an industry." For example, an actor resigning from being an actor, no longer acts; or a sport player no longer plays. ----- 『日本語を学びます』 I am learning Japanese ⇒ 「日本語を勉強しています」 * "日本語を学びます" is grammatically correct, but since “learning Japanese” is progressive, it would be better to use “~ている / ~ています” "日本語を学んでいます" is okay, but it is more natural to say "日本語を勉強しています" ----- 『毎週5日1時間勉強します』 I study 5 days a week, 1 hour a day ⇒ 「毎週5日間、毎日1時間勉強します」 ----- 『どの言語を勉強しますか』 What language are you studying? ⇒ 「どの言語を勉強していますか」 * There's a slight difference between these two sentences. "どの言語を勉強しますか":The person has planned to learn a language, but not yet started. You are asking which language s/he is going to learn. "どの言語を勉強していますか":The person is now learning a language, so you ask s/he which language s/he is learning. ----- 『なぜこれを勉強しますか』 Why are you studying it? ⇒ 「なぜそれを勉強しますか」 「なぜその言語(or 言葉)を勉強するのですか」 / 「なぜその言語(or 言葉)を勉強しているのですか」 * “なぜ〇〇〇のですか?” / “なぜ(~ている)のですか?” is more natural Japanese to ask a reason of doing something. ----- Hello MichaelK These are the only sentences I thought can be more natural, but actually all are well-written! Hope it helps! Please let me know if you have any questions :)
