Hi Alina!
I think this will be hugely dependent on context, however here are some ways we use these two in South Africa:
1. Her books were spread out over the table.
2. He spread the map out on the table.
* spread out - to open or place something over a large area.
3. The group spread out as they moved toward the house.
* spread out - the individual people physically spaced themselves out over an area.
4. She stretched out her arms as she woke up.
5. The dog stretched out on the bed.
* Stretch out - the act of stretching (think of an elastic band being pulled on both ends)
6. She stretched out their supply of sugar.
* stretched out: she limited their use of sugar so that it lasted longer.
As I mentioned, context is important as this can change the meaning - these are just a few examples.
I hope this helped!

Hello!
https://wikidiff.com/stretch/spread#:~:text=As%20verbs%20the%20difference%20between,a%20given%20area%20of%20space
Both phrases seem similar but when applied to context, they are definitely different. For example, A cat stretches its body to say hello to me. It does not spread its body. Stretch is a noun and a verb and so is Spread, both a noun and verb I believe.
I grow and stretch as a person; I spread out my papers on the tables; I spread germs; I stretch my mind.; Spread out your reach to market your business product; My stretch was long and it hurt a bit. All these are non-interchangable.
Stretch is to lengthen out; spread is to open it wider;

Yes there are differences between stretch and spread and, no, they are not interchangeable.
Stretch: to make longer or wider without tearing or breaking : My sweater stretched in the wash. Rubber will stretch easily when pulled.
Spread: to open out (something) so as to extend its surface area, width, or length : I spread a towel on the sand and sat down. She helped Chris to spread out the map.
Good luck to you!
