Each person is responsible for his or her own condition.  Helping can be dangerous and I recommend considering carefully before acting on an impulse.  Friendship is dear and very important, but you can't make Quasimodo stand up straight no matter much you love him.  Perhaps the best way to help her goes in a different direction that only you can know.  I am sure there is a boy out there waiting to meet a nice girl like you and like your friend.
